Shall they bring

Thesis

"Shall Monterrey's Villarreal bring Mateo unto them?" and "Shall Israel rob God?" are his two questions. The verses he set them on do not ask either one.

The record

KJV Psalm 68:29: "Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee."

KJV Isaiah 18:7: "In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts."

The Hebrew noun in both is שַׁי (shay), a gift brought as homage. The recipient in the psalm is "thee," at the temple in Jerusalem. The recipient in Isaiah is the LORD of hosts, and the place named in the rest of the verse is the place of his name. The pronoun is not "them."

KJV Malachi 3:8: "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings." The verb is קָבַע (qavaʿ). The charge is already a present tense against the nation, and the thing taken is the tithe and the contribution. It is not a "shall" about a surname.

Monterrey is a 1596 foundation. Villarreal on that clock is a family-memory name and a later toponym. It is not the 1274 town, and it is not a king in Psalm 68. Mateo is the name Fidencio said. The Hebrew inside Matthew is מַתָּן (mattan), gift, plus Yah. Mattan is not shay.

Bringing a present and withholding the tithe are opposite motions. The first verse sends a gift toward the LORD. The Malachi verse says the gift was kept back.

The split

One line: the kings bring שַׁי unto the LORD. They do not bring a man named Mateo unto Monterrey, and Malachi does not print a Villarreal.

The house reading

I hear the two shalls. I do not make the verse say them. A gift goes to the LORD at Zion. Mateo is a gift-name in the blood, a different Hebrew word, said by a grandfather, not carried by this psalm into Nuevo León. Israel in Malachi is already charged with keeping the tenth. Rob, inside "rob," is the ear. The verse does not spell the stage name. The present and the robbery stay facing each other. They do not become one sentence.

Changelog

  • 2026-10-06 — His two shalls set on Psalm 68:29, Isaiah 18:7, and Malachi 3:8. Pronoun "them" split from "unto thee." Monterrey and Mateo left off the verse. No PRD.
